Short answer: Email Parser by Zapier costs nothing on its own. The parser is a free Zapier built-in, and what you pay for is the Zap that acts on each parsed email, billed in tasks. Zapier gives you 100 tasks a month free, then Pro starts at $19.99 a month billed annually for 750 tasks. Parsing 500 emails a month through a two step Zap uses about 1,000 tasks, which puts you on a $39 a month annual plan or $58.50 month to month.
The pricing question people actually have about Email Parser by Zapier is not what the parser costs. It is why the bill went up after they started using it. Zapier does not sell the parser as a product with its own price tag, so there is no pricing page to read. The cost is buried one level down, in how Zapier meters everything else you do.
This page lays out what you really pay, using Zapier list prices read on September 2, 2026, and works through three volumes so you can find the row that matches your inbox.
What Zapier actually charges for
Zapier bills by the task. A task is one action your Zap completes successfully. Triggers are free, so the email arriving and being parsed does not cost you anything by itself. Every step after that does.
That distinction is the whole answer. Email Parser by Zapier is a mailbox Zapier hosts for you at a robot address. You forward mail to it, highlight the values you want in a sample message, and it produces named fields. None of that is metered. The moment you connect those fields to a Zap that writes a row to Google Sheets, creates a CRM record, or posts to Slack, you start spending tasks.
Zapier pricing in 2026
These are Zapier list prices as published on September 2, 2026. Annual billing is the cheaper column and is what most teams end up on.
| Plan | Tasks per month | Billed annually | Billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 100 | $0 | $0 |
| Pro | 750 | $19.99 | $29.99 |
| Pro | 1,500 | $39.00 | $58.50 |
| Pro | 2,000 | $49.00 | $73.50 |
| Team | 2,000 and up | $69.00 | $103.50 |

Pro and Team both scale well past these rows, up to two million tasks a month, and the price climbs with each tier you select. The rows above are the ones email parsing buyers actually land on.
How many tasks does one parsed email cost?
Rarely just one. This is where the estimate most people make turns out to be low by a factor of two or three.
Count every action step in the Zap, because each one is a task each time it runs. A minimal Zap that takes a parsed email and appends a row to a spreadsheet is one action, so one task per email. That is the floor, and almost nobody stays there. A realistic lead handling Zap looks more like this:
- Create or update the contact in the CRM. One task.
- Append a row to a tracking sheet. One task.
- Send a Slack notification to the owner. One task.
- A formatter step to clean a phone number or split a name. One task.
That is four tasks per email. Filters are the exception worth knowing: a Filter step that stops the Zap does not consume a task, so filtering out the mail you do not care about early is the single most effective way to hold the number down.
What parsing 100, 500 and 2,000 emails a month actually costs
The table below assumes a two step Zap, which is the most common shape: parse the email, then write it somewhere and notify someone. Multiply by your own step count to get your number.
| Emails parsed per month | Tasks at 2 steps | Zapier plan needed | Cost per month, annual billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 100 | Free | $0 |
| 100 | 200 | Pro 750 | $19.99 |
| 500 | 1,000 | Pro 1,500 | $39.00 |
| 1,000 | 2,000 | Pro 2,000 | $49.00 |
| 2,000 | 4,000 | Pro, higher tier | Above $49, scales with tier |
Notice how quickly the free plan runs out. At two steps per email, 100 tasks covers 50 emails a month, which is under two a day. Anyone parsing order confirmations, inbound leads, or supplier invoices passes that in the first week.
Is Zapier Email Parser free?
The parser itself is free. Email Parser by Zapier is a built in Zapier app, so creating a parser mailbox, setting up templates, and having mail parsed into named fields costs nothing. What is not free is doing anything with the result. Every action step in the Zap that follows counts against your monthly task allowance.
Does the email parser count as a task?
No. The parse itself is the trigger, and Zapier does not bill for triggers. Only the action steps that run afterwards consume tasks. So a Zap with three actions costs three tasks per parsed email, and the parsing step adds nothing on top of that. Filter steps that halt the Zap are also free.
What is a task in Zapier?
A task is one successfully completed action in a Zap. Adding a spreadsheet row is a task, creating a CRM contact is a task, sending a Slack message is a task. Triggers, filters that stop a run, and steps that error out are not counted. Your plan sets how many tasks you can spend in a billing month.
Zapier Email Parser compared to a dedicated parser
Prices below were read on September 2, 2026. The three tools bill on genuinely different units, which is what makes a straight comparison confusing, so the last row converts each into the same question.
| What matters | Email Parser by Zapier | Mailparser | MailParse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Billing unit | Tasks consumed by the Zap | Emails parsed per month | Emails parsed per month |
| Entry paid price | $19.99 a month annual, 750 tasks | $24.95 a month annual, 3,000 emails a year | $24 a month, 100 emails |
| Mid tier | $39.00 a month annual, 1,500 tasks | $83.95 a month annual, 24,000 emails a year | $74 a month, 500 emails |
| Free tier | 100 tasks a month, forever | 30 day trial, 30 credits | 3 parses with no account, 30 a month with one |
| Output formats | Fields passed to another app, no direct file export | CSV, Excel, JSON, webhooks | CSV, Excel, JSON download |
| Attachments | Limited, parses the message body | Reads common attachment types | Lists attachments by name, type and size, does not read inside them |
| Where it wins | Already connected to 8,000 apps, nothing new to buy | Mature rules engine, many inboxes per plan | Flat price per email, direct spreadsheet export, no task math |
| Cost of 500 emails a month, 2 step workflow | $39.00 plus whatever else uses your tasks | About $33.95 a month annual at 6,000 a year | $74 a month, unlimited steps |
The honest read: at low volume with a simple workflow, Zapier is hard to beat on price, especially if you are already paying for it. The comparison changes when parsing is not the only thing on your Zapier account, because the parser is competing for the same task budget as every other automation you run.
Where Zapier is still the right buy
If your parsed data needs to land in an app rather than a file, Zapier is genuinely the shortest route, and no dedicated parser matches its connector count. Routing a parsed lead into a CRM, a project tool, and a notification channel in one flow is exactly what it was built for. Teams already running other automations there get the parser at no extra subscription, which is a real advantage worth keeping in view.
It is also the better fit when the email layout is stable and the volume is low. Zapier parsing works by template matching against a sample you highlight, so a consistent sender that fires a handful of messages a day is close to the ideal case.
When switching pays for itself
Three situations flip the math. The first is step count: once a Zap needs four or five actions per email, your effective cost per parsed email is four or five tasks, and a flat per email price stops looking expensive. The second is when you want the data as a file rather than in an app, because Zapier has no direct spreadsheet export and people end up building a Google Sheets step purely to get a download. The third is competition for the task pool, where an inbox spike quietly starves the automations you actually depend on.
The kinds of mail that trigger all three tend to be the same: order confirmations during a sales period, invoice runs at month end, inbound leads after a campaign, and alert digests from a brand monitoring tool that all land at once. Volume that arrives in bursts is where task budgets break.
It is worth running the arithmetic before you renew rather than after. Count the action steps in your parsing Zaps, multiply by last month's parsed email count, and compare that against the tier you are on.
Where to start
If you want to keep the Zapier workflow and only fix the cost, our breakdown of the Zapier email parser covers how the template matching works and where it needs babysitting. If the task math has already stopped adding up, the Zapier email parser alternative page compares the options that bill per email instead.
For a wider price comparison across the category, email parser pricing puts Parseur, Docparser, Mailparser and MailParse list prices side by side, and the best email parser buyer guide covers which tool fits which job. If your end goal is a spreadsheet rather than an app record, email to Excel skips the automation layer altogether.
